Classroom Management
A teacher's ability to manage a classroom has a direct impact on how much learning takes place.
As the instructional leader in the classroom, a teacher's role is to keep behavioral problems to a minimum in order to maximize learning. In addition to managing the behavioral tone, classroom procedures and rules establish the culture of the classroom. Other organizational habits of the teacher, i.e. promptly returning graded papers, having spaces and places for functioning and inspiring, having supplies readily available, etc., contribute to a classroom's overall effectiveness.
Think about your experiences at your site school classroom. Identify and briefly describe one successful classroom management strategy that you have employed with your students. It may be one that you have borrowed or inherited from your mentor teacher. How does it contribute to the overall effectiveness of the classroom?
